The
following terms and conditions represent the basis upon which I
offer driving lessons and courses to you. I agree to be bound by
the following terms and conditions, and be bound by a
professional code of conduct.
DATA
PROTECTION
In addition
to keeping a record of your progress on a paper record sheet, I
will also hold your personal details on a computer. By
signing the record sheet, you agree to your details being stored
electronically.
On The
first lesson you will be asked to sign that you agree to the
terms and conditions.
If you are under 18 years of age, a parent or guardian must
sign.
I will be
courteous, polite, tidy and punctual.
The car will be well maintained, clean and tidy, and will be
fitted with dual controls. The car is fully insured for driving
tuition.
I will NOT smoke in the car while giving tuition. I will not use
your lesson time for any other form of business, personal or
otherwise, except in exceptional circumstances and with your
express permission.
You must
hold a current, valid Driving Licence (Provisional or Full),
which must be produced on or in advance of your first lesson.
You must also check that you can read a number plate at a
distance of 20.5 metres (i.e. 67 feet, about 5 car lengths) with
glasses/contact lenses if normally worn. I will check your
eyesight before you drive.
PAYMENTS
Payment can be by cash or cheque, payable to
Derek Gibbons (with guarantee card),
unless other arrangements have
been made, or you have paid for a block of lessons in advance.
Normally
you will take the test in the driving school car. As you have a
lesson immediately before the test you should be aware that the
charge on the day of your test will be the same as a two hour
lesson.
NOTE:-The
fee paid to the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) for your driving
test DOES NOT pay for the use of the car while you are taking
your test.
CANCELLATIONS & PUNCTUALITY
You must give a minimum 48 hours notice to cancel
or change a lesson. Failure to give this notice will usually
result in you being charged for the lesson. Failure to show up
for a lesson at the agreed time will also result in you being
charged for the lesson.
Should I cancel or change a lesson giving you less than 48 hours
notice you will be offered a new appointment time as soon as
possible. If the lesson has been paid for in advance, this will
be carried forward to the next lesson. I reserve the right to
postpone lessons if it is felt that the weather or road
conditions are unsuitable or dangerous. I cannot be held
responsible for any costs incurred as a result of having to
postpone any lessons for these reasons. Should the DSA cancel
your driving test at short notice, I cannot be held
responsible for costs incurred as a result.
In their
own interests learners are advised to be punctual for their
lesson appointments. I will normally wait for a maximum of 10
minutes before the lesson would be abandoned, and the lesson
fee forfeited or become due for payment. A reciprocal waiting
time may become necessary if I am delayed due to unforeseen
circumstances.
If I am likely to be more than 5 minutes late for a lesson, I
will ring you to let you know. Any lesson time lost as a result
of this will be made up, either at the end of the normal lesson
time if possible, or at a later date.
LEARNER COMFORT & SAFETY
In the interests of comfort and safety, learners are advised to
wear suitable footwear and clothing, which does not restrict
movement. Learners must also take note of any medication they
are taking that may affect their ability to drive safely, and
advise me accordingly before taking any lesson booked.
If I
suspect you are not fit to drive through taking any medication,
(prescribed or not), the lesson will be cancelled/terminated and
the fee will become forfeited/charged. If you are in any doubt,
consult your doctor.
Pupils
must make sure that their mobile phones are switched off for
the duration of the lesson. I will not use my mobile phone to
make any outgoing calls, or send text messages during the course
of your lesson.
Lessons
will normally begin and end at the same location, unless you
have made prior arrangements with me.
MY
POLICY ON TAKING THE TESTS
Pupils should note that
RoundAbout MK does not usually book
tests. It is therefore the learners own responsibility to book
their Theory Test and Practical Driving Test. I will provide any
telephone numbers and advice you request to help you with the
booking process.
When booking your Practical
Driving Test you must give the DSA my ADI number, which is
260859. This is to prevent me being double booked.
Should a learner in my opinion, not be ready to take the test,
I reserve the right to withhold the use of the driving
school car for that test.
I will give sufficient notice/advice of this, so that
no financial loss, in the form of a forfeited test fee, will
occur.
Occasionally, bulbs on cars fail. RoundAbout MK will not be
liable for the cancellation of a test due to the failure of any
lights during any test, since these will have been checked by
candidate and instructor together on arrival at the test centre.
BEING ACCOMPANIED IN THE CAR
You will
NOT normally be accompanied whilst you are on a lesson or a
test EXCEPT in the following circumstances:-
- You
are of course, welcome to have a parent/guardian or a friend
or relative present during a lesson so that they may determine
your progress.
- Occasionally you may be accompanied by a DSA Supervisor for
the purposes of your instructor's tuition standards being
tested. This is for your longer term benefit, and your
co-operation in this regard will be appreciated. Your
permission will be sought well in advance of the lesson taking
place.
- Your
test examiner may be supervised by his superior. You will be
advised of this at the start of your test, though you MAY NOT
refuse the supervisor accompanying you.
- Your
instructor, at your discretion, may accompany you on test. It is YOUR decision as to whether
they do so.
reserves the right to change these Terms & Conditions at any
time.

you are happy with the service you receive, PLEASE tell your
friends,
if you're not PLEASE tell me.
